About Us
Our Founding and Beliefs
After several months (and thousands of text messages) discussing what the ideal gym and fitness community would look like, the owners realized talk is cheap, and we decided to make our ideas a reality (and also decided to switch to slack, man those texts were exhausting). The result is Core City Fitness, which was founded in May 2020—at least that is when we signed the lease on our crown jewel space. In this space, we are committed to creating the best fitness community in Detroit.
What is the best fitness community in Detroit? It is a place that will help you reach your fitness goals. A place that will push you and support you. We want to create an inclusive space for athletes of all levels, mentored by the best coaches, to help you on your fitness and health journey. Ultimately, our goal is to churn out kick-ass 90 year olds.
We believe in this vision so strongly that we launched in the middle of a global pandemic, when gyms around the world had to close their doors. We invite you to sign up for our newsletter and follow our social channels to track the progress of our opening and the fitness community we are building. We’d love to have you as part of the team!
Our owners come from diverse fitness and professional backgrounds, but we all share this vision.
Nick Righetti: can squat more than you, just ask him. His squat to bodyweight ratio is through the roof.
Lisa Seymour: if there is running, rowing or biking in a workout be prepared to be left in the dust.
Stacy Vespremi: has better abs than you, promise.
Jeff Winkler: first known human to go down in the history books to convert from full Vegan to Carnivore Diet in a 24 hour time period.
Clint Fugate: his 22.3 CrossFit Open Workout finish is still being played on Sport Center’s Top Ten.
“This is the gym we always wanted. A place to call our second home.”
