May 2022 Athlete of the Month
Coach’s Thoughts: Devin joined the gym last year after her boyfriend encouraged her to try it and she hasn’t stopped since. She is eager to learn new skills and has progressed well over the year. Devin asks for feedback on her technique and isn’t afraid to push herself with a little encouragement always with a smile on her face. She recently competed in her first completion and took fourth with Coach Lisa!! This summer she will be competing again in the Patriot Games. We look forward to Devin continuing her advancement in CrossFit and being a positive member of our community!
How long have you been doing CrossFit
Michael Vertregt encouraged me to try out CCF in March 2021. Hard to believe I’ve been at the gym a little over a year!
Favorite Movement?
Box Jump Overs!
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?
Just try it out, you won’t be disappointed! CrossFit is a workout that you can adjust for any level of fitness.
Favorite thing about CCF?
The community is my favorite thing about CCF. Everyone who goes to the gym is so friendly and encouraging!
What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?
When I’m not at CCF I work, I deal a lot of drugs (CVS Pharmacist)… But I also spend a lot of time with Michael and our two dogs, Dakota and Oliver. I also plan on doing a lot more exploring of downtown Detroit (and all over Michigan) this spring and summer.
What is your next big fitness goal?
Overall I would like to get stronger. My biggest goal for the future is to get a bar muscle up!
