February 2023 Athlete of the Month
Coaches Thoughts: Casey, congratulations on becoming AOTM at CCF. You exemplify what hard work and determination does in such a short period of time. We have watched Casey get more fit and confident in movements in just a years’ time. Casey always puts in the extra work even outside of class time to hone in on his weakness. There is no doubt in our minds that Casey will have it all mastered very soon.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I moved to Detroit for work about a year ago and didn't know many people. A friend of mine encouraged me to try CrossFit and I instantly loved it! CrossFit is a great way to get to know people while building both strength and cardiovascular fitness, and it's so fun to learn new skills
Favorite Movement?
Tough choice between rowing or assault bike
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?
Just try it, even if you feel intimidated at first! Everyone wants to see you succeed, and the coaches will help you modify the workouts to meet your current abilities and help push you forward safely
Favorite thing about CCF?
The environment. All of the coaches and athletes are so supportive of each other, and everybody just wants to help you reach your goals!
What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?
I'm a professional musician, so I spend most of my time playing my bass or listening to music. I feel so fortunate to have built a career around the art that I love.
What is your next big fitness goal?
Strict handstand push-ups
