November 2021 Athlete of the Month
Coach’s Thoughts: We’re so thankful to have had Carlee as part of our community at CCF from the very beginning. She’s been so helpful with feedback and suggestions to make us better...if you’ve appreciated having your playlist on for your birthday or participated in our internal competition - those were Carlee B suggestions! Also, as one of our more experienced athletes she’s always offering tips and pushing our newer members which we love to see as coaches! Can’t wait to see you cruising upside down on the floors of CCF this month! Congratulations!
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I have attention issues where I get bored with doing the same old workouts. So about four years ago, I tried CrossFit out because my dad had started it and realized that the “constantly varied” thing was what I needed. Since then it’s been the longest I stayed with something. Bonus that I can bond with my dad over WODs too.
Favorite Movement?
I love squat cleans, no reason why. But if you ask anyone else what my favorite should be, it’s probably box jumps. It’s probably the only movement I’m good at.
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?
CrossFit turns out to be less about any sort of weight loss or workout regiment and more about learning about yourself with some fitness as a bonus. And if you’re like me and sick of working out alone doing the same old same old, it’s a great way to push yourself and make great friends!
Favorite thing about CCF?
When the coaches let me play Mariah Carey even during non-Christmas months. But actually, it’s that moment after a WOD when you lay on the ground nearly crying with everyone in the class also nearly crying. Shared trauma is what builds friendships, right?
What do you do when you’re not at CCF (job, hobbies, other fitness, etc)?
I work as a product manager for a technology company, where I help public transportation agencies. When I’m not doing that, I’m usually yelling about the benefits of bike lanes or trying to find an excuse to drink champagne and celebrate something.
What is your next big fitness goal?
I told myself that I wanted to handstand walk before my birthday (which is December 28) and I feel like I’m ALMOST there so fingers crossed!!
